The General Meade Society of Philadelphia Annual Picnic 2021

On Saturday, October 9, 2021, members and friends of the General Meade Society of Philadelphia gathered in the shadow of the little-visited Meade Monument in West Fairmount Park, in Philadelphia, for its ‘Member Appreciation Day Picnic’

The attendees enjoyed fine picnic foods, good conversation, and the camaraderie of their fellow ‘Meade-ites’, a fun time, the society is already looking forward to next year’s’ ‘Fall Classic’.

The society’s annual picnic dates to 2012, that year the event commemorated the 125th anniversary of the dedication of the the Alexander Milne Calder designed monument, the statue is one of two statues of General Meade in Fairmount Park, the other one being a part of the nearby Smith Memorial Arch.

Also nearby is ‘The Please Touch Museum, (Centennial Hall), and The John Welsh Fountain.
